Terms of service

1. These terms

These terms govern your use of nimbletcuriousvault.boats, published by Kilnhouse Editorial Limited of 27 Bellfinnan Street, Dennistoun, Glasgow G31 3RQ, United Kingdom. By using the site you accept them. If you do not accept them, please stop using the site.

2. What the site provides

The site publishes editorial articles about the whisky regions of Scotland, production methods, maturation and labelling. It is provided for general information. It is not advice of any kind, it is not a valuation or authentication service, and it is not an offer to sell alcohol or any other product. Nothing on the site should be treated as encouragement to drink; readers should follow the law and the health guidance applicable where they live, and anyone with concerns about alcohol should speak to a qualified health professional.

3. Your obligations

You agree to use the site lawfully and not to interfere with its operation. In particular, you must not attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the site or its hosting infrastructure, introduce malicious code, scrape or copy content at scale for republication, misrepresent your identity when contacting us, or submit unlawful, abusive or infringing material through the contact form. We may refuse or remove submissions at our discretion.

4. Intellectual property

The text, layout, illustrations, code and design of this site are owned by Kilnhouse Editorial Limited or licensed to it, and are protected by copyright and related rights. You may read the site, print pages for personal use, and quote short extracts with clear attribution and a link to the source page. You may not reproduce substantial parts of the site, republish articles in whole, or use our content to train automated systems without our written permission.

Distillery names, brand names and trade marks referred to in our articles belong to their respective owners. They are used editorially to identify and discuss the businesses and products concerned. Their use does not imply any association with, endorsement by or approval from those owners, and we hold no commercial relationship with any of them.

5. Accuracy and third-party material

We take care to describe production methods, regulations and regional definitions accurately, and we correct errors when they are pointed out. Even so, the site is provided without any warranty that it is complete, current or free from error. Regulatory texts, ownership of distilleries and production practices change, and the authoritative sources are the legislation itself and the producers concerned. Where we link to external websites we do so for convenience; we do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content or their privacy practices.

6. Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we exclude liability for any loss or damage arising from use of, or inability to use, this site, including loss of profits, loss of data or any indirect or consequential loss. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. If you use the site in the course of a business, we exclude all implied warranties and conditions to the extent permitted by law. Nothing in these terms affects the statutory rights of a consumer.

7. Availability and changes

The site is provided on an "as available" basis. We may change, suspend or withdraw any part of it, or restrict access, without notice and without liability. We may also amend these terms; the version published on this page applies to your use of the site at the time.

8. Termination

We may suspend or end your access to the site if you breach these terms or if we reasonably believe your use is harmful to the site, to us or to other users. The provisions covering intellectual property, liability, governing law and any accrued rights survive termination.

9. Governing law and disputes

These terms and any dispute or claim arising out of them, including non-contractual disputes, are governed by the law of Scotland. The Scottish courts have exclusive jurisdiction, except that if you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the United Kingdom you may also bring proceedings in the courts of your own jurisdiction. We would rather settle a disagreement by correspondence than by litigation, so please write to us first at [email protected] and give us a fair opportunity to resolve the matter.

10. Contact

Questions about these terms, requests to reuse content and formal notices should be sent to Kilnhouse Editorial Limited, 27 Bellfinnan Street, Dennistoun, Glasgow G31 3RQ, United Kingdom, or by email to [email protected].
